A splendid letters patent originating from Jerez de la Frontera in Andalucia, claiming a right to nobility and the inherent privileges which came with such rights.

The family seems to have had the intention of taking up residence in the Indies, as some of their relatives had already done previously.

Illustrated brightly with three pages illuminated with a Crucifixion motif, an image of Santiago at the battle of Clavijo and the family’s crest. Also contains a portrait of King Felipe II at the Final Judgement.

An abundance of coloured initials and calligraphic displays.
